Nursing Home Administrator
Linda Slone began her career as a nurse, graduating from Ohio University - Portsmouth Campus in 1972. As Linda’s career progressed, she came to realize that serving the aging population was her calling. For that reason, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Shawnee State University with a concentration in Healthcare Management in 1999. Linda has worked in several nursing homes ranging from small 25 bed centers to larger 200 bed centers. She has experience in all aspects of nursing home care prior to coming to the Ohio Veterans Homes.
Linda is an active member of the community. She created the annual Senior Olympics in 4 counties in the southwest Ohio region. Under her direction, this event has grown to include 12 Ohio counties and 3 Kentucky counties. The Ohio Healthcare Association, representing long term care facilities, honored Linda in 2004 as its Hero of Long Term Care. Linda was also the recipient of the Volunteer HERO Award from the American Red Cross in both 2005 and 2015 for coordinating large community blood drives.
Linda is the proud mother of three children. One son is a teacher in Vietnam while another is pursuing acting in California. Her daughter is a pediatrician and is currently in the Oncology Fellowship Program at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas. Linda resides in Piketon, OH.
